Why Be an Affiliate Marketer?

Why Be an Affiliate Marketer?

Passive income.

While any “regular” job requires you to be at work to make money, affiliate marketing offers you the ability to make money while you sleep. By investing an initial amount of time into a campaign, you will see continuous returns on that time as consumers purchase the product over the following days and weeks. You receive money for your work long after you’ve finished it. Even when you’re not in front of your computer, your marketing skills will be earning you a steady flow of income.

No customer support.

Individual sellers and companies offering products or services have to deal with their consumers and ensure they are satisfied with what they have purchased. Thanks to the affiliate marketing structure, you’ll never have to be concerned with customer support or customer satisfaction. The entire job of the affiliate marketer is to link the seller with the consumer. The seller deals with any consumer complaints after you receive your commission from the sale.

Work from home.

If you’re someone who hates going to the office, affiliate marketing is the perfect solution. You’ll be able to launch campaigns and receive revenue from the products that sellers create while working from the comfort of your own home. This is a job you can do without ever getting out of your pajamas.

Most businesses require startup fees as well as a cash flow to finance the products being sold. However, affiliate marketing can be done at a low cost, meaning you can get started quickly and without much hassle. There are no affiliate program fees to worry about and no need to create a product. Beginning this line of work is relatively straightforward.

You only have to answer to yourself.

This is the one that I like the most. The fact that you are accountable for yourself, you determine your paycheck, not a boss! For one thing it is an excellent self esteem booster. No longer are you stuck having to relay on someone else ie. a boss. Nothing worse than the feeling that someone else holds your paycheck at their whim. It is not uncommon in most states anymore that they can let you go from a job practically without warning, doesn’t matter how long you have been with a company. Most states are adapting the at will philosophy of business. If they don’t like you they can simply get rid of you.

Convenient and flexible.

Since you’re essentially becoming your own boss, you get ultimate independence in setting your own goals, redirecting your path when you feel so inclined, choosing the products that interest you, and even determining your own hours. This convenience means you can diversify your portfolio if you like or focus solely on simple and straightforward articles that you can turn into campaigns. You’ll also be free from company restrictions and regulations as well as ill-performing teams.

Rewards based on performance.

With other jobs, you could work an 80-hour week and still earn the same salary. Affiliate marketing is purely based on your performance. You’ll get from it what you put into it,this is not a get rich overnight scheme. Learn how to write relevant and helpful reviews, sprinkled with some great search engine optimization(SEO) and how to write engaging campaigns will translate to direct improvements in your revenue. You’ll finally get paid for the outstanding work you do!

Some Things to Avoid with Affiliate Marketing

With affiliate marketing it is best to approach content creation like you are trying to explain something to a friend or family member. Don’t write like a salesperson when featuring a product or service from a company you are an affiliate of or change the tone your readers are used to.

Yes, you are in fact selling something but this should not be your first priority or motivation. Your first priority should be to your reader and nothing else. You want to be able to educate and recommend or not recommend products. Recommend and educate,do not sell..That will come as you build out trust with your reader.  Your blog doesn’t suddenly have to turn into a commercial or take on a voice that may be off putting to your readers. Often, bloggers will talk about how the product or service was beneficial to them while it relates to the blog’s topic. That approach works the best with affiliate marketing.

You do not want to be known as the sleazy sales man next door,it will be the fastest way to ruin in the online world.

Another thing to avoid would be to display a banner or button in the post in a way that doesn’t make sense or that doesn’t seem to relate to the post. Give some sort of introduction to the product or a lead that particularly relates to the service so that its appearance on your blog will flow seamlessly.

I have pages on this site that only has one mention of a particular product with just one small  text link, and that generates sales for me.Your pages do not have to be littered with inks.

Always Disclose Your Affiliation

It’s important to note that as an affiliate marketer by law you need to have an affiliate disclosure statement on all pages that contain affiliate links. This is a requirement by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). You can check the FTC’s guidelines here.
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make and one that is very avoidable is NOT approaching affiliate marketing as a business. This all comes down to your mindset.Affiliate marketing is probably one of the most profitable business models you are ever likely to come across, but to make it work for you it,one it has to be set up correctly, and two you have got to look at it as a business not a hobby or a get rich quick overnight. If you have the right mindset from the get go it can be very lucrative and passive for years to come.

The Why? Has To Be Your Why.

What do I mean by that. In simple terms you have to sit down and really drill all the way down to why do you want to be an affiliate marketer, why do you want to do this. Is it to own your own business ? Great but why? Is it to pass on your knowledge to the online world or to leave a legacy for your children? Awesome! but again why? Or is it to gain and have time freedom that will allow you to do more of what you enjoy for years and maybe decades to come into your retirement years? Whatever the question and the reason you will have to keep drilling it down in order to find your TRUE WHY. If you can figure out your why, then you will be about to figure out Why Affiliate Marketing. Your mindset going into this affiliate marketing business is the true secret sauce everyone talks about, when you have that this will become the best business model around for you,not to mention the most fun and lucrative!!

  1. I am an affiliate marketer and I like what you said here. “Your first priority should be to your reader and nothing else.” I always believe that for you to be a successful affiliate marketer, you have to give value to others first. Value-value-value then sell. Actually sometimes it’s just value-value-value and the selling part will come out naturally.

“The WHY has to be your WHY” – that pretty much sums up everything. I read this book by Simon Sinek, you always have to start with your why! So true! Nice article! Cheers!

    1. So wonderful to her that someone else also knows the value of finding and drilling down to your WHY….Makes all the difference in your bottom line. Cheers to you also!!

  2. Thanks for your review on affiliate marketer. I am an affiliate marketer, but never thought of that there are so many advantages as one. I need to take advantage over this and try my best to maximize the benefits.

It is nice advice from you that our first priority should be to our readers and nothing else, recommend and educate, do not sell … build trust with our reader. You are right we need to create values for our reader.

It is kind of you sharing this useful information.

    1. So wonderful of you to respond in such kind words. It has been proven time and again if you create value and educate to try to solve a problem for your readers than you ultimately gain value in return long term.

  3. I totally agree with everything said here on your article, Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways people make money online and for some it can be a passive income once been utilized and I love your recommendation, which I recently upgraded as a premium member and I must say it’s been an awesome experience. 4. I agree with the list of reasons why to be an Affiliate Marketer. I like the flexibility, I can choose to relax, anytime when I feel so as an affiliate marketer. 1. Thank you for reading and commenting. A lot of people do not realize that this is a business and as such there are rules that need to be followed like what the FTC puts out. This is what gets a lot of people into trouble that dont understand it is actually a business.

  5. WOW, nice post.

I myself have been drawn to the freedom affiliate marketing offers with the low cost of entry and the tremendous results when you add a little sweat equity to the mix. I agree that the no-touch nature of the business is also a key drawing point. No inventory to keep, no employees ever unless you choose to expand in the future, and no selling. You just find people with needs and give them answers and related product links and they will actually thank you for not being a salesperson.

    1. Absolutely one of my favorite things that drew me into the world of affiliate marketing was the ability to help other people by pointing out the numerous legitimate opportunities online.I love the ability to write a review and educate someone about buying or not buying a certain product. The no inventory was my second reason for getting into affiliate marketing. Years ago I was doing Ebay and yes it was very profitable but also a lot of work and I had to keep and find room for inventory. This is so much more freedom.
